Hip to be SQUARE

Our Virginia neighbors hold a reunion for extended family and friends each summer. This year our family was blessed to included in the fun. On a grassy hilltop, everyone gathered with covered dishes full of their gardens' harvest. The tables were covered with stew, chicken, fresh vegetables, herbs, flowers and beautiful desserts. An entire table was dedicated to sweet, buttered ears of corn! Yes, we were so very happy to be invited.

Then, after dinner was over and the sun was setting, people mingled to the upstairs of the old barn. Everything had been cleared out but a ring of chairs around the walls. A four person band took their place and the music was ready. As family member called out the instructions, the Square Dancing began. Guess who was right in the middle of the action?

Our sweet Abigail was twirling and spinning from arm to arm and having a fantastic time. What a wonderful memory!

Here is a photo of some of our kind hosts: Bill and Elizabeth Ross
They have been so generous this summer as we set up our home away from home and so hospitable to invite us to dinners around their table.

An added blessing was this photo that Elizabeth, an amazing photographer, took up in the barn. Isn't it just beautiful? The sun glowing on Abigail's face and her brother admiring her from across the room. A treasure for me!

Sounds like a wonderful time with friends & neighbors. Abigail is growing up so much! Looking beautiful as ever though and the photo of her in the barn reminds me of Karmen or maybe Robyn when they were a little younger. What do you think??
