We are always on the lookout for a new adventure, because we want to experience as many places as possible with our children. This has led us on trips to beaches, cities, islands, capitals, theme parks, battlefields, antique shows, museums... But we realized that we have been overlooking our big backyard.
Our three children, all Northern Arizona natives, had never been to the Grand Canyon! Oops. So, before we make a cross-country move at the end of the month, we planned a field trip/birthday celebration/sightseeing trip.
Grand Canyon? Check. Check. Check.
Our dear friends (who traveled all the way to see us in VA last summer) took their kids for the first time too. Makes me feel better :)
We have had so many fun adventures with their family. It was fun to explore the canyon together with them. The kids all enjoyed watching the Imax movie, a picnic lunch, and hearing "don't lean over the edge" over and over again.
The weather was beautiful! At the rim, it was about 50 degrees with little wind.
The Grand Canyon is one of the most beautiful things in the world to Brent. He has traveled to so many places in the world, but I think he would have just stood and absorbed it all day.
But he didn't... he was too busy trying to make sure our sweet Ethan didn't try to fly!
Part of the reason for our trip was to celebrate Samuel's 7th birthday.
He is growing into such a big boy. He has a very big year ahead of him filled with lots of big changes. And now he has seen the very BIG natural wonder that is only found in Arizona.

That is on my list too. After living in the Southwest for many years I never had a chance to stop by the Grand Canyon.
Have you guys had a chance to visit White Sands?
So very glad that we got to experience this with you all! What a fun trip and memory for us all to treasure. Stay tuned to my blog, I promise to have some photos there soon too...downloading, downloading, downloading as we speak!!
Love you,
