Brotherly Love

This week we had a visit from Brent's brother Grant and his wife Silver. They traveled all the way from their ranch in Montana to spend a little time farming in Virginia. Well, they did a bit of sightseeing too.

When they weren't visiting battlefields and national monuments, Brent showed them around this new area of ours. They did chores together, visited feed shops, and brainstormed about how to improve costs and labor. We even managed to see a play downtown last night. They had a whirlwind trip!

This week was kinda like Christmas for our three kids. Uncle Grant and Aunt Silver arrived with some special presents. Their favorites were the bright colored ropes, and the roping lessons in the back yard. Samuel is practicing non-stop and is becoming quite a good catch... just ask his little brother!

Speaking of Ethan, he just loved having his Aunt and Uncle here. Grant patiently turned into a climbing gym and Silver learned to understand his unique dialect by the first night. Everything was wonderful... until this morning.

As they were preparing to leave for the airport, Grant started telling about his house, all the animals they have on their place, and how much he was going to miss us. Ethan disappeared. A few minutes later, Ethan was dressed, had packed a suitcase and was telling his mommy goodbye. Oh, the sadness in that little face when we told him he couldn't go with them to Montana!

We have been so blessed this week! Brent really enjoyed getting to show Grant and Silver all the things we are working on here. The kids got to know their super fun aunt and uncle a little better. And I loved hearing all the crazy stories about when Brent was a little kid!
We are all so thankful that Grant and Silver made the trip to see us. They are welcome anytime! And yes, we promised Ethan that we'll be planning a trip to their part of the country just as soon as possible!
