Very Special Guests

The most difficult thing about moving so far from home has been missing our friends and family. We've quickly learned that 2,000 miles is a very long distance. While phone calls and letters are cherished, seeing people in person is the best remedy for bouts of homesickness.

This is where we get to tell you about a very special blessing :) While God was preparing us to move to VA, He was leading some dear friends to make a big move as well. They decided to leave AZ and move closer to extended family on the east coast. Our friends, Jube and Peri Dawn, moved last April and now our families live only 2 hours apart! What a blessing to have old friends close by.

Last weekend, my friend Peri Dawn came to visit. It was such a great time of fellowship and we even got to celebrate her birthday. Chocolate cake and homemade ice cream were on the menu. This visit just adds to a list of times that we have enjoyed together:

Last summer, our friends came to stay on the farm and help with chores. The kids had a wonderful time playing together. We shared memories from home and stories about our new adventures.

We have made a couple of visits to their home as well. On one trip, we took our kids to a local children's museum. They had so much fun with the costumes, crafts, and climbing wall. It is nice to be close enough to explore this area together.

Since we are both homeschooling families, we planned a special field trip this spring to Washington DC. We explored the memorials, monuments, and the museums for two days. Its only a short drive, so we have plans for more visits.

I am so thankful that Peri Dawn and her family live close by. Who could have imagined that God would move us both, and still allow us to remain so close? Just another example of receiving exceedingly abundantly more that we asked!

Beautiful at 30! I love it that he took you both cross country and still neighbors (in a large sense of course)!
